Proud to Be... by LycanDID Proud to Be... by LycanDID
So, as I worked on my journal from Nov. 26, I mentioned John "The Gneech" Robey's article.

With his article, he included a "button" that anyone could use, and I decided to make a dA stamp with it.

The article and button are here.

If reading both doesn't help you "get" what I mean...the simple fact is, someone needs to take this term back for the people that really understand it, and not the fringe that the media likes to depict.

Get it?
Got it?
Good.

As an example of what "furry" should mean, I found this article which has served as a source of inspiration to me personally and for my stories: [link]:performance:hospitals

That's what it ought to be about...being creative, having fun, and making others happy, making others feel good.

So there.

Just wondering, "furry" mean human-like animal or simply any realistic looking, but anthrophomorphic animal? :/

I think both of those things fit the definition of furry.

...yeah, that's what I thought. Some people I know think the bad stuff about furries, but not me. I think anthros are neat (I often browse the anthro section of DA), and I seriously doubt that furry fandom is about furvy stuff.

Well, even I have to admit that some are about the furvy (good word!) stuff...but not nearly the percentage that you'd think based on the media. Thanks for the comment!

Cool! I have a T-Shirt that says "Proud to be a Furry" on it with a pic of RJ from Over the Hedge (the movie). :D

Yes! Exactly the point of my efforts! If someone meets the description I've been trying to promote, I hope that they'll pass the stamp and sentiment along.

Thank you!

YW I totally understand. They are all FURVERTS!

Well, no...that's sorta exactly what I'm not saying. My point is, the majority of people that dress up in costumes, or draw anthropomorphic animals, or write stories about these critters are NOT perverted. They're normal, happy, healthy people with creative minds and imagination that do it for their own enjoyment and to make others feel good.

It's the fringe that get attention and degrade the term "furry" that ruin it. Those are the "furverts," and they make a very small percentage, I'm sure...but they're making the rest of us look bad and we need to clean up the term "furry" so it can be used correctly.
